A stereoscopic 3D poster for an imaginary show from Shape & Peril. The Cheshire Cat is stretched laterally across higher dimensions, existing in-between states. A dosed hypercube sits on his tongue.
It's Spectacle in the Situationist sense, with Chapel Perilous as the threshold where reality breaks down and transformation becomes possible. The ribbons use the vocabulary of Romance and Existentialism. Ineffable longings, beautiful despairs, and yearnings that English can barely touch. It's not meant to wallow; it's about refusing comfort, embracing complexity, affirming on the realness of difficult feeling. It's dark, introspective eroticism.
The vintage circus and animation aesthetic pull the notion of the Trickster into frame, like a funhouse mirror. Cartoons and the carnival have always been spaces where the rules don't quite apply, where bodies are strange and logic bends. The Trickster operates at these thresholds, in these gaps; and there's a mythic quality that's ancient and archetypal. Set against the somber ribbons, the playfulness is unsettling. But the Trickster doesn't mock the depth; he inhabits it, refusing to separate the sacred from the ridiculous.
3D glasses not included.
